Very cool! I was thinking of picking one up and doing the same thing. You did a great job with it.

Bravo!  What yellow and silver did you use?  Look excellent!   Did you make the decals yourself?

It is a very fine kit, exquisite detail and accuracy.  However, it is a bit fragile. I would not recommend it for a beginner or novice.  The ability to do such fine molding as the major companies are going to means they can mold in scale dimensions fine tubing and fragile parts.  Getting fine tubes and such off the sprue without breaking can be a challenge, and the resulting model is fragile to handle.

Thanks for the kind words everyone,

The yellow is a mix of  insignia yellow and blue angel yellow, the decals are a all made by me, And Don is right about it being fragile. It would not take much to break the top wing off since the outter support struts are really thin. But I would definateley build this kit again.

Not to steal B1 fixer's thunder, but there is one very important problem with the kit.  I had several friends building the kit who had problems building the kit due to fit between cabane struts and upper wing.  There are little projections on the struts that are supposed to hold the wing at the right height, but don't always fit properly.  The result is the wing sits too high, and the interplane struts will then not fit.

What I did, being forewarned, was to sand/file those projections off, and cut just a skosh off the ends, maybe 30 mils or so.  I then set the wing on with slow drying glue and glued in the interplane struts.  These hold the wings at the right height, and the cabanes just provide a strong attachment point when that glue dries.

Nice job! I always assumed this was a repop of some old Monogram kit, and I avoided it because I figured it was ancient and therefore lacking in detail. Your build, however, has me wanting one, as you did a fantastic job on it, and it looks really, really nice.
