Loudest take off! Plus Documentary
Posted by Dean30 on Saturday, January 16, 2016 2:37 AM

If you have never heard a Vulcan bomber open up its engines then listen this it sounds more like Godzilla with a headache. It is the sound of air rushing through the intakes but you will hear it's unlike any other aircraft.

That definitely puts a J-57 equipped KC-135A to shame.

HI !

   I think I have a headache ! WOW !

The closest I have come, is being under a C-5 Galaxie at takeoff in California at Edwards A.F.B. I thought that was awesome . Sorry the Vulcan's Got it beat ! .  T.B.

Hahaha yeah it's not exactly subtle, I saw it at Portstewart air show a few years ago, the Vulcan came in for a landing approach on a beach in front of the crowd then he opened her up and she soared up and away, it was crazy how loud it was I couldn't have heard anything if you shouted directly in my ear the ground was shaking. I can't believe it's never going to fly again, surely someone in the USA could help keep her alive?

Loudest aircraft experience and light show I had, was sitting by the paratroop door inside a Marine KC-130 during a night time JATO launch.
