Nice job on the Superbug!

Beautiful super bug.  I may have to try one of those.  What's the load out?  I see AIM9s, AIM120s, looks like 1000# JDAMs but not sure what else is there.  Thanks.

I saw a Marine F-18E a few summers ago at an air show and yours looks real. A beautiful scale reprlica. Nice job. I want to try this technic. I hope its not to late for this old dog to learn a few new tricks. I'm doing this same kit for a friend who flies for an airline ( big Airbus) so this will be my test project for the technic. If I screw it up the kit is not that expensive. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic work!  These Revell Superhornets are the best bang for the buck!

I did mix in some medium gray to use as touch up spots like i have seen in photos of operational hornets. In alli used about 5 different shades of gray in this build. I kinda just layed them on top of each other in thim translucent layers for that effect that you see. All while trying to preserve the black base peeking thru.

I use a tecnique called black basing. Basically prime black then start slowly bulding up your main colors in a random pattern in layers. I like it better than panel line preshading. If you look up doogsmodels on google and find his black basing tutorial it explains it really well.

 

I can see that in there...I use the technique myself.

The darker/blue-gray spots are what really stood out and looked like a different technique was used. I like it a lot!

What was your method for the color variation (mainly on the wings)?

Thanks jester. The f-15E kit goes together  better, but this kit is not bad by any means. The only potetian problem areas is the nose assembly join to the rest of the aircraft. Other than that there is no other real issues. Its a kit that gets overlooked often unfortunately. 

Hmm, another Revell kit that I have heard good comments on similar to their F-15. How did you find the kit to build? Very nice clean Hornet! I think the weathering looks just right on it.

I have a few modern USN kits but have not build one yet, i need to correct that soon. I still wnat to get an F-18 though, just can't decide which one to get.
