This is not a WIP thread, but it most likely will become one once I kick this project off. First I need to get some paint on my F4F-4.
I pulled this out of my stash because it is something I normally wouldnt build, but I was looking for something different. As of now I just wanted to clean the parts up and check the fit. I was actually surprised that the fit looks very good. the kit is very basic, just a plain Jane plane. not much for a cockpit and the landing gear is very basic. I will build it straight from the box, I may work on the landing gear a bit, I guess that will depend on how I feel about this project once I reach that stage.
So, this should be on my bench shortly:
I built that very kit several years ago. You'll enjoy it. Here's a couple pics of mine:
"All you mugs need to get busy building, and post pics!"
I built one of the kits with the retracting landing gear back in the 1960s.
I have two later issue Testors versions in my stash with the intention of using surplus Monogram interior parts ( wings were donated for a Sci-Fi build many "yarens" ago ) for detailing.

She looks great!
I plan on going with the Florida orange and white scheme.
This is what I'm going after as far as color goes. I just want something different and this scheme works for me.
Does that orange finish look like a semi-gloss? it sure dosent look like a high gloss, but it could just be ware. It almost looks flat to me. Any thoughts?
I have Tamiya X-26, not sure if this is the right orange. The orange should be NO. 1727, I couldnt find a reference to that numer, but this clear orange x-26 looks like the color in the top photos.
Depending onb when the instructions were printed (has it been in your stash a long time) it may be a reference to the original model masters paint product numbers, even the little bottle paint. I can only find references to the newer product lines.
Chasing the ultimate build.

Yes, this is an old Testors kit, I have had it my stash at least 10 years. I am not sure of the exact orange for the Florida base scheme, but the X-26 may do the trick. If you or anyone else may know of a closer orange, please post the product number it would be appreciated.
Orange X-6 kinda looks like the lowest pic, so im really not sure now.
