Testors 1/48 Cessna 0-2A FAC Aircraft
Posted by Hunter on Sunday, February 7, 2016 6:10 AM

Gentlemen,

After reading the article in the current issue of FSM on the 1/48 Cessna 0-2A Skymaster "Don't Shoot" I started to look for where I might purchase this interesting subject and come up empty handed. Could someone please point me in the right direction so I can obtain this model.

Thank you in advance for your time and help in this matter.

Hunter

I had a look on scalemates and it was last release in the 1990's, so most likely out of production. I did find one on e-bay.

Its a couple of years older that the boxing you posted, but the same kit.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

If  you can't find one in 1/48, Roden just announced a 1/32 version, along with an O-1 to go with it.  Trying to find out when they will hit the shelves.

You could always go with the Heller 02 as well. If I remember correctly, it was 1/50th scale though and not 1/48 as advertised.

According to the distributor, the 1/32 O-1 is due out this summer and the O-2 in the fall.

goldhammer -

Thank you sir. I lost my bid on the 1/48 scale on ebay and the new 1/32 sounds fun. I really appreciate you taking the time to find this for me.

Have a great day,

Hunter

Fermis -

I always get a kick out of your replies Big Smile You definitely could have made your money back on that kit. My last bid was $38.00 and I lost. There was 2 other bids going for the same aircraft and they were in the mid $40's.

Hunter, Not sure where you are located, but if you could wait a while, I'd recommend getting to a local model show and swap meet to see if you could grab one of those old Testors O-2s.  I see them all the time, and grabbed my copy just that way.  I'm not expecting to hit a show until this Fall, but if interested, I'd be willing to check for you, and I'll bet some of the other guys on the Forum might be willing to help you find one of those.  Just let us know what you are willing to pay, and maybe it will work out.  Good luck.  Can't believe $40 for that kit.

$40+ ??!!!!!Surprise

Holy HeyZues!!!

I figured maybe $20 at best! I would have octupled (is that even a word???) my cost...$5 vendor special!

You can give this # a try (734)3I6-228I...this guy has a TON of stuff. I may very well be making this up, but I swear I saw that kit, when I was in there the other day.

I'll be going to the Indianapolis show next month...I'll keep an eye out...if you're still in need then.

John -

Thank you very much for your offer. I may take you up on it if the new release of the 1/32 scale does not come out. They are scheduled to come out in mid summer and mid fall of this year. Where I live we do not have any model shows nor does the only LHS have any type of show. I am sorry for the delayed response to your post....dang work getting in the way(laughing). Again, thank you very much for your offer. When is the show you plan on attending?

First or second Saturday in November, in the western suburbs of Chicago.  Butch O'Hare annual show.  Just search IPMS Butch O'Hare for the website.  No worries about the response time, this is my first week back to work, after a month off to recover from a surgery.  Hate the way a job can interfere with all your fun.
