Look outside the box. Look for some black US serial number sheets from like Techmod. Or some from Archer's Transfers dry rub-on numbers, or go to model railroad suppliers and stores for numbers. http://www.pmcn.de/English/USN%20Markings%20I/USN%20Markings%20I.htm
Use part I and II.

I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.
Have fun.
Does anyone produce a set of generic USN early war squadron designators and numbers in 1/48 scale? I've been searching with no success. The problem I'm having is, I can find specific A/C or squadron sets that I could work with however they don't seem to include both the large fuselage numbers and the smaller matching numbers that were located on the leading edges of the wings or cowl.
Barring that, would fuselage numbers in 1/72 scale be about the same size as the wing/cowl numbes in 1/48?
