I just purchased the Revell 1/48 TBD-1 Devastator kit for a good price. I know it is an older kit and I'd like to dress it up a bit. I see that Eduard makes a PE set for the TBD but says it was made for the Great Wall Devastator kit. Does anyone have any experience using the Eduard set on the Revell kit? Will the major components fit? Considering I'd be spending about twice as much for the PE as the kit I want to make sure I'm not wasting my money.
There are always differences between kit manufacturers with the same subjects. You will have to modify them to fit. They won't dropin. Sometimes the pe won't fit in the specified kit and will need to to be modified. It is a part of modeling. It is not a shake and bake kit.
WIP: Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 73rd BS B-26, 40-1408, torpedo bomber attempt on Ryujo
Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 22nd BG B-26, 7-Mile Drome, New Guinea
Minicraft 1/72 B-24D as LB-30, AL-613, "Tough Boy", 28th Composite Group
You're gonna want the pe set for the Revell kit. Eduard does make one. I used it on my build. You might have to look on Ebay for the set. It really spruces up the cockpit and bomb bay doors, if you choose to display them open.
In my searches I haven't found an Eduard set for the Revell kit but I have come across one for the Monogram kit. Are the Monogram and Revell TBD's the same kit reboxed?
Yes, these are the same kit.
Thanks
Hello pmm736 -
Did you ever find the Eduard pe set? I've been searching online and everywhere I've looked it's sold out and marked as discontinued on the Eduard site.
Thanks.
