That looks great, and the stripes look much nicer painted than the decals, IMO. Great job getting them perfectly straight. I never seem to pull that off.

Gorgeous Corsair O. Exceptional paint work on the stripes. They came out fantastic.

Super job on this Corsair! You certainly did well in your research and questions on the Internet - the aircraft you were shown here...

Hey Mike,

Funny, I didn't even remember that I had posted those questions.  Most of them were answered, but I had to use info I found in the Monogram USN color guide and on the web.

To all, again, thanks for looking.

Cheers!

Sweet looking bent wing bird, O! The green and white stripes came out perfectly. Tough to see the wash and rescribe job under that dark sea blue paint. Wish I could see it in person. Always good to see you around the forums.

Seem to match with what you've built (or the other way around Smile). Whatever the case....really fine work.

Hey there FSM,

Here’s a build that’s been languishing on my Shelf of Doom for some time.  3 years if I remember correctly.  I rescribed all the panel lines, rebuilt the gunsight and exhausts, added some wiring to the engine and the rocket stubs from a Tamiya Corsair, used TD wheels and some decals from the old Superscale sheet.  I say some decals because my research showed the squadron and plane markings for the MLG doors are missing from the sheet.  Also, I decided to paint the green and white striping instead of using the decals from the sheet.  The kit’s painted with MM paints and weathered with colored pencils, pastels, and Flory washes.  The airframe was left fairly clean because the few pictures I found of VMT Corsairs showed that they were fairly well kept.

Let’s take a look, shall we?

Glad this one’s done.  Now I can concentrate on other projects.

Thanks for lookin’!

Cheers,
