A really nice job you made of it, Grant. Detail work looks just great, the camo finish is totally on point. Another fine one from you, thanks for the post and photos.

You did a good job on that one.  I have a couple A-1s that I've been planning to build, one as a South VIetnamese aircraft.

1/48 Tamiya A-1H Skyraider - 83rd Special Operations Group South VNAF 1966

I enjoyed this build and doing something different. The kit is Tamiya’s 1/48 Douglas A-1H Skyraider, the decals are Iliad decals “Special Ops Skyraiders”. The aircraft is a former USN aircraft being used by South Vietnamese Air Force.
A-1H, 39797, of the 83rd Special Operations Group, VNAF, Ton Son Nhut air base, 1966. The 83rd Special Operations Group of the VNAF (sometimes referred to as the 83rd Special Air Group) was formed in the mid-1960s to act as an elite air combat unit. The unit most famously flew Douglas A-1 Skyraiders. The pilots of the 83rd were highly skilled, and came to have a reputation as an effective fighting force.
Note the serial number sits on the original USN Gull Grey

Painted with Vallejo and Tamiya acrylics for main camo. Other paints used, Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics, Gunze Mr Metalizer and Vallejo Metal paint. Flory dark dirt wash and Mig satin varnish.
