I've read that there were a surprising number of aircraft that had non-standard roundels.

I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.

Have fun.

On 6th June 1940 the Air Ministry ordered that undersides of day fighters were to be repainted Sky with no under wing roundels. On 11th August, after a conference on markings, under wing roundels were reintroduced.

RAF BoB Roundrels

I picked up a Xtradecal set with Canadian markings for a BoB Hurricane I'm working on and noticed that the undersides of the wings do not have roundrels. On the markings placement sheet, they are included for other sqaudrons or pilots, but two of the Canadian markings sets do not have roundrels on the bottom of the wings.

Can anyone confirm if some Canadian planes (or others) in the BoB did not have those markings?

Thanks,

Stephen
