Any tips on German yellow?

What do you need it for. RLM 02 should be the right colour for theater markings and things like that.

If you mean RLM 02, that is an interior colour, as well as part of the early war exterior camouflage scheme.

The Luftwaffe had two types of yellow in their inventory, 04 gelb and 27 gelb.  The latter looks very close to insignia yellow.  If you want the golden look of 04 gelb, you should get a decent facimile by adding  a drop or two of red mixed in the yellow you have already.

Jack, your right, i don't know where my brain was confusing RLM 02 with 04.

Greatmaker, RLM 02 is a grey/green colour, so not sure what you have there.

MM Insignia yellow is too bright and a drop of red would bring it closer. I personally prefer the tones that Mr Color uses for it RLM mixes; I find they are very close. Mr Color 113 is RLM 04 Gelb yellow. If you dont like mixing then try to find some Mr Color, you wont be disappointed. Otherwise, play around with MM yellow and some red until you like the tone. I did some digging in my paints and I do have a MM enamel RLM04, it is MM 2072. It is a real good match as well. That one is easy to find at Hobby Lobby.

I personally like the Tamiya Flat Yellow for mine. Here it is sprayed on a couple different models:

That's all straight from the bottle. The Mustang has a gloss coat on it, and the 190 and 109 have flat coats and Flory Dark Dirt washes on them.

In the end I just decided to go with Model master RLM 4. It seems to be a "deeper" yellow than insignia yellow.
