Well, I finall finished the P-47. This took way longer than I expected; but I am really pleased with the results. I think that the rivets add a lot of realisim to the model. The weathering was done with Tamiya Smoke.
I used 1 1/2 sheets of Bare Metal Foil. Next winter I plan on doing a 1/48 B-29 in Metal Foil. I figure that I'll need 8-10 sheets of foil for that buiold.
Your comments and questions are always welcome.
Having done a couple of metal foil jobs, I appreciate the difficulty in getting all the foil into place. You have done a magnificent job. Love the last pic with the B-17 in the background.

Following is a detail picture of the revits and another picture of the P-47 with a B-17.
First I used a straight edge when making the rivets. Later on I discovered that I could run the rivet wheel freehand. That went a lok quicker.
Very nice work with BMF it can be a pain to work with

Never did foil, but that looks outstanding.

Thanks,
I have tried to replicate aluminum airplane panels using paint. But, I never liked the way it looked. Nothing beats the look of actual metal.
Excellent work there! Any problems with the decals and paint sticking to the foil?
Mike
You did a fantastic job with the foil.

Attached are photows of two airplanes. The ome on the left is painted with Testors' ALuminum Plate Metalizer paint. The P-47N is finished in foil. IMHO, there is no substitute for the real thing. I've never used Alclad. Maybe that is closer to the metal foil finish.
Wow, the foil is flawless, and the rivets are perfect! Very, very cool!!!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the kind words. I am a quest for the most realistic looking natural metal finish on a model airplane. I liked the foil, but it is a bit too shiny. I found this item on the internet regarding Rub n Buff. I' Think I'll buy a Revell F-86 and try Rub n Buff on it. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234942082-f86f-sabre-531-th-fbw-chambley-afb-1956-hasegawa-132/
