Yup, as Greatmaker said you are nuts but in a totally cool sort of way.
You're kinda the Evel Knieval of modeling

Greatmaker Yep definately nuts, but in a good way. You must have the patience of a saint. I can't even wrap a bowl well with tin foil let alone a plane. Looks fantastic though

Yo , Johhny K;
Being a foil afficianado I agree with what you are doing . Now , Get some Bumper stickers , Peel them off the backing paper gently .Stick them where you will . Keep the paper .Now go to the cheapest store in town that has their house brand Aluminum foil .Get a bottle of Micro -Foil Adhesive.
Take a piece of glass ,12"x12" and burnish the foil to it smoothly , shiny side down . Apply the adhesive with a fan brush .It won't hurt if you thin it a little Two or three drops of distilled water . let this dry . Now take the backing paper and shiny side down carefully apply it to the foil . Burnish it down to prevent bubbles .Take an X-Acto knife ( new Blade ) and cut the foil around the paper .
Turn it over and with a clean soft rag ( Preferrably an old " T " shirt ) and rub it down tightly .Burst any bubbles with the knife point , Gently !
You now have your own sheets of foil at half or a quarter of the shelf cost of bare-Metal Foil .Keep in a large flat book and use when you want to .Approx shelf life ten years ! Oh , Try to get the bumper stickers for free if possible . Tanker - Builder

I see,but that 29 will require a lot of sheets of bmf and it could bet pricey.I covered my devastator in bmf and it is gorgeous if inaccurate. Both methods will yield excellent results.It is the modelers choice!
philo426 I say try Alclad.I just chromed my P-61(seemy build thread if interested)and the results are outstanding!

I really liked the way the P-47N looks in metal foil. Now that I am a roll, I am going to do a 1/48 B-29 in metal foil.
This is one big plane when compared to the P-47.
The P-47 took 1 1/2 sheets of metal foil. I estimate that the B-29 will take 8-10 sheets. This will take a long time to do since I have other activities that I like to do in the Summer. I'll work on the plane when it is raining.
The first issue is that the panel lines on the B-29 are raised. The panel lines on the P-47 are recessed. I have three possibilites: 1. Sand off all of the raised panel lines and rescribe them. 2. Install the metal foil over the raised panel lines. 3. Butt the metal foil against the raised panel lines.
Option 1 seemed too-over-the top (I have more important things to do), so I eliminated that. I did a test on the rear wing of the B-29 to see if option 2 or 3 works better. I installed the metal foil, rubbed it out, brushed it with steel wool and weathered it with Tamyia Smoke. I then compared it with the recessed panel lines on the P-47. The left panel line is option 3 and the right panel line is option 2. The left panel line (option 3) looks like a mess and is too extreme looking, so it is out. The right raised panel line looks very much like the recessed panel lines on the P-47, so I will go with that. I think when viewed from a normal viewing distance it will look just fine.
