1/48 Kittyhawk Sepecat Jaguar A – Special scheme

Kit- 1/48 Kittyhawk Sepecat Jaguar A
Decals- Berna decals (BER48094) special scheme for the disbandment of the squadron 4/11 "Jura" July 1992
The kit is not real great (understatement), poor fitting parts, and is very modular in building as to accommodate all the other versions Kittyhawk have released I guess. The modular part got me with the undercarriage, as you have to build it in 2 sections early on and then add it to the airframe, and although I think I followed the instructions, the gear is not aligned properly. I also wanted to put one engine cover on, but no way are they going to fit without a huge gap.
As for the instructions, they are shocking! Wrong number call outs, poor images leave you guessing where parts actually fit. I got caught out again here with the engines, I should have been more careful and double checked it
Other than the landing gear, I am pretty happy with the end result (I know there are probably mistakes with it), I will do another Kittyhawk Jaguar as I have 2 other versions in the stash, and they may be a little easier to build as I know what to look for next time.
Main camo is painted with Gunze and Vallejo acrylics and Vallejo metal underside.
Other paints used were Tamiya acrylic, Gunze metalizer. I used Flory dark dirt wash, but knocked it right back as this aircraft would have been pretty clean I imagine.

I realise this aircraft was probably not armed, but I think modern jets look bare without some ordnance. I think maybe the Magic.2 missiles should have rails to mount on to pylon? Not sure, and there is nothing in the kit, and it is another area of the instructions that is a letdown.

Oh Man, that came out super good. Love the paint scheme.

I'm building a trying Kitech 1/48  F-111 E now ,to practice the black basing and tri-color camo air brushing.  Hope mine comes out half as good as yours.

With all these issues, you've seem to have overcome them and produced a spectacular build.  I love the paint scheme.

I've read reviews that state the same things you mentioned. It's too bad that KH doesn't have this kit on par with their other kits, which are quite nice. You did a bang up job with a rough build. Nice work, I really like it.
