Article says the target of the bomber was Tunis but it took off and landed in England?

Yeah, the England part is hokey for sure. That story is very well documented elsewhere, though.

Have seen those pictures for years.  No matter the story, it is absolutely amazing that she still was able to remain in the air with that damage.

It is amazing that she still flew at all.  Can you imagine being on that?

During the war we had a B-52 come home with a S.A.M. stuck through her bomb bay and out the top and I heard of another one that had part of the tail fall off in its reventment later that night. 

Boeing knew how to build a sturdy aircraft.
