Fermis,  That's some right crafty work on the cockpit !  As soon a I saw the pic in this thread I thought "How on earth did he file down the steering yoke to to get it to look so fine ? My plastic one looks kinda clunky in comparison !"  Going through your Photobucket Album did help - and gave me some good tips too - thanks !   Is the copper wire just superglued ?  or is it brazed/soldered ?

Rev, Again - nice work - and nice photography as well.

You guys have set the bar high - I've got my work cut out for me.

I'm thinking I'll probably stick with one of the kit-supplied schemes.  I kinda like the look of invasion stripes on this bird.

Revenant:

Really fine work! (Careful, you're about to lose the port prop Wink).

Since it was mentioned...

I very rarely even look at color call outs...I google images of what I'm looking for.

Here's a link to the album for this build...

I'm not sure about the "G" variant kit, but I can tell you that the "B" kit was a royal pain. I had to sand and sand and sand plastic to get the nose and engine nacelles  to fit right. That being said, I was extremely pleased with the outcome. It was a lot of work, but we'll worth it! Looking forward to seeing photos of your build!

Thanks all !

I will be using MM acrylics on this one, and I knew that the exterior colors would be OD and Neutral Grey, but just wanted to be sure of the rest of the colors.  This will help me to convert.

Nice builds Rev and Rocker !  I like the faded effect that both of you have achieved on the topside OD.  Very nice - I will be trying for the same thing.

Any advice or warnings about building the kit ?

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I built MPM's A-20B kit a while back. It had the callouts for Gunze paints, which I don't have.  I ended up using Model Master paints after I researched what part of the plane had to be painted what color. Turned out really nice!

They're call outs for Gunze/Mr. Color paints

I think mine were Humbrol.

In any case, with the internet, kit color instructions are to be TOTALLY disregarded.

Search for the subject, and model, and you'll get all of thre information you need.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

MPM Models - color me . . . confused ?
Posted by Bossman on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 9:27 PM

Hello all,

I'm building my first MPM Model ( a 1/72 scale A20-G) and I cant figure out the paint manufacturer to which the color call outs are referring.  (?)  Doesn't seem to be Humbrol, Tamiya, or Model Master.  . . . and there's no clue in the instruction sheet.

I just couldn't stand the irony of the wrong color wreaking Havoc on my A20 !   Any help would be greatly appreciated.
