This build was fun, it came out looking better than I expected. This was a first for me, as I've never built something this scale before and have it turn out as well as it did. I was hesitant to build another bi-plane as I built one from a Revell kit that never worked out. The Revell kit had shortcomings with the braces that hold the wings together, they were too flimsy to hold the wings together and ended up breaking and bending.
I heard great reviews about this Academy kit and decided to give bi-planes in general another go.
I used a mix of tamiya and vallejo model color acrylics, with a vallejo acrylic primer. I did a gloss coat for the decal placement and then a dull coat after the decals were set.
This was the first time I've cut a decal that was on top of a panel line after it dried, and the decal did not disastrously tear or disintegrate. I used Microset and Microsol successfully for the decals.
I think I'd like to make more in this scale in the future.
