Curtiss H-16 flying boat
Posted by Don Stauffer on Thursday, July 14, 2016 8:54 AM

I am just starting the Roden H-16 kit (Pretty much same plane and kit as the Felixstowe).

The instructions color callout calls for the hull to be grey on top and sides with a brown bottom.  But all of the color graphics I find in a google image search of this aircraft, and all the built model images I find in the same search, show hull overall grey- no brown.

Is this a mistake in instructions?  Anyone know of a good reference for Navy flying boats of WW1 era and immediate after?

Don't know on the color, but I just love the cover art of it doing a pylon turn around the Chrysler building in NYC!

Don, it probably is the same as the Naval Aviation Museum's MF Boat.  I would use that as an example.
