Nicely done SLUF, sir!  Great paint job and loaded for bear.  Gotta love it.  Like the striking hornet on the tail.

Good job.  I've never seen those markings before, they really stand out.

I have talked to A-7 pilots in the 3rd TFS at Korat ang got a difference of opinion.  One said that he always had trouble with the instruments rattingling in their sockets, and the other said that he wished they put a afterburner in the things.

I have two options for a "D" model that I always wanted to build:

I hope that I can get it built, but it is getting harder to work on the kits.

Very nice. I got the 2 seater hobby boss version of this same kit. Looks like a fun build Question. The surface on mine is a little rough. Did you sand the surface on yours?

the surface on my two seater kit was very rough. I sanded it with 1000 grit before I started glueing.

Your A-7D and F-16 both look real sharp, especially with that awesome tail art.

Very nice build.  I have the 1/32 Trumpeter A-7D in my stash and look forward to getting started on it.

The base is very nice too.  Did you make that or buy it somewhere?

HB gives you tons of weapons, like Academy. I have the HB 1/48 A-6E and is a beauty. It even has the option for folding wings and the details at the folds. Hasegawa kits give you the bare minimum in weapons and some have no intake trunking as in the F-4s. I suppose this SLUF does have trunking?

Either way, it looks fantastic and love the tail markings! Great job Grant Beer

Beautiful...Love me some SLUF!!!

The H/B kit is very similar to the Hasegawa. Where the Hasegawa kit wins is in the overall shape, mainly up front with the nose, intake and canopy. I haven't built the 1/48 H/B yet (have an E and TA-7 stashed....next to 3 Hasegawa E's), but have done several 1/72 H/B kits(with another 5 in the stash). I do like the plastic itself, on the H/B as opposed to the hard, crispy(?) plastic that Hasegawa has.

Really nice. The green on the tail really gives it some color

Thanks guys. Nathan, this is my second build of the Hobby Boss kit, I do like it, it goes together well,  I have not done Hasegawa's version but no doubt it is good. I also have Hobby Boss TA-C7 and A-7E versions to do as well.

Beautiful work Grant! I love the A-7 in airforce colors. Especially I this late gray scheme. You nailed the camp work. I build Hobbybosses A-7k earlier in the same colors and I'm not so sure I got the right shades. The grays varied so much looking at ref. photos. What did you think of the kit overall? I know much prefer the Hasegawa still.

Pretty!  Nice contrast between low viz paint and colorful tail art.

Kit - Hobby Boss 1/48 A-7D/E Corsair II
Decals - Superscale Decal No. MS481242
Camo colours - Vallejo Medium grey (FS36270) & Medium gunship grey (FS36118)

Just finished off this one, a nice, easy and pretty quick build. I gave it a Flory dark dirt wash and AK landing gear wash was used in electronics bays, gear well and landing gear. Finally Mig satin varnish to finish it off. There are some really nice AM decals for A-7's out there, so this will not be my last build of this kit. Thanks for looking.
