Hmmm;

I just chose this -The F-4-D Skyray by Lindberg . Don't laugh . I am going to use the engine , all detailed and presented behind clear panels in the fuselage , starting with the one they give you to " View " part of the engine .

I decided to do this after remembering the fun I had detailing out the Clear M.E. 262 by Tamiya ! In that one , Both engines , fuel and control linkages etc .were detailed inside that very clear plane . I even went so far to detail the firing linkages on the nose guns !

Plus the backside of the control panels , both side and main instrument cluster too .

In building models now I like to do cutaways or something like the 262 . Why , It's just fun to see folks reaction when they realize what they are seeing ! You should've seen back in 1977 when I did Lindberg's " Blue Devil " U.S.S. Melvin kit . I cut out and installed clear panels for the after fireroom and both engine rooms . Plus the deckhouse in spots , and then the lower mess deck as well as officer's country and the bridge .

Then I took another and converted it to a Gearing by widening it four scale feet and lengthening it 40 scale feet . Then did a total FRAM with detailed wheelhouse and Asroc control station and open Helo hangar . The last detail was a clear side to one of the scratch-built dual 5" -38 mounts.  .

There are times when I describe this stuff . All was gone after the Night of December 2 - 1982 . But the memories are clear as if I had built them yesterday . Sadly no photos or other work , such as plans , survived to today .

I have been lucky to keep modeling . My hands took a lot of damage that day and surgeries have become the usual result . Last one in 1996 . NO it doesn't bother me ! I love any kind of model or anything that can be turned into one . T.B.

After closer examination of the Bell Huey, I'm missing quite a few peices.  So looks like this one is going back in the box and will be kept for spare parts.  Maybe I can find a complete one online somewhere.  Bummer I was looking forward to this one.  It's the biggest of the 3 helos I have.

Just finished a Cobra I bought at least 16 years ago only to discover I can't find the canopy!

A number Army Viet Nam scans from hundreds yet to be done:

Well after the Hughes, I did the Kiowa, then the Blue Angels, and finally the B-52.  Now I'm back to what's next?!  It's really between a C-130 combat talon, and a B25 Mitchell at this point.  Then again "Fat Albert" is sitting there looking at me all pretty and shiny, lol.

B-25 Mitchell!  Yes!

I just went thru this dilemma earlier this week. Just finished the Haegawa 1:72 scale F-4E and decided I needed something bigger . . . . . . . . easier on the bifocals and shakey hands. I went with the UH-1 Huey gunship of a bigger scale from Revell. Less parts, bigger parts and needed a change of pace. Good luck with selection.

I'm a bit tired of painting everything two tone light and dark ghost gray. I'd build the Bug for the Blue Angles. What would be nice to find as an extra would be the travel/luggage pod that they make for the Hornet and Super Hornet.  The A-10 is just ugly looking. The KC-135A is the older verssion of that plane from back in the day. If its painted in the gloss aircraft gary or bare metal it would be worth doing. 1/144 scale I'd need a microscope for, the Kiowa is interesting sounding. I haven't built a salame cutter i years.

Chasing the ultimate build.

I'd go with something simple or the easiest project. You'll finish it faster and probably get more enjoyment out of it, you can use it to practice and improve your skills for the next tricky project, and because in your present state you're not particularly passionate about one kit or the other, an easier kit will be for the fun of building rather than perfecting a favourite.

The hat idea is pretty good actually!  The Bell Huey Cobra is out for now.  It is a box from 1973 that someone had already started, so I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise there is some stuff missing.  Oh well.  I started on the little Hughes 500.  I'm sure it's not going to take me long to do.  She's tiny, and there isn't a lot of parts.

The A10 is going to wait until the start of the group build next month.

I am kind of itching to do the P39's......it has fancy bits in it.  Well they are fancy to me since I've never had any metal etched parts, or masking for the windows, lol.

I'd build the Eduard P-39's.  You can build them in assembly-line fashion.

Sorry to hear about the hassles with the UH1 :-(

Build the little Md 500, I did a few moons back. It is a very simple kit but builds up quite nicely.

Well I pulled out the Huey Cobra to have a look see at that.  It was in a lot of 3 I bought off eBay.  Someone had already started on this kit, and did a poor job at painting.  No big deal, I can handle that.  Then I realize half of the instructions are missing!  So I've been digging around online for the past hour or more.  I think I found enough that I should be able to get it together.  Found some pictures of completed ones as well, gave me a bit of inspiration for the paint job.

Since your neighbors are going to the 135's, I'd say that one, but hold off til you get one there to use for a master copy.  Grab one of those things that the wings fly faster than the fuselage, and are therefor are inherently unsafe, and get it off the shelf.

Besides, after the Herk, would be interesting to see what you do to a helo.

Be careful when you ask a question like this. The last time I asked on a forum "what should I build?" I ended up building a Czech Models FR-1 Fireball. This thing fought me from beginning to end: In the end, I wrestled it into submission, but boy was I glad to have it off the bench!

I'd probably do the A10 because it's my favorite plane out of that bunch. I have built the revell blue angels F-18 before. It's been a good while, but I did enjoy building it. Just my two cents.

I'd go buy another kit and then possibly build it. Goes on with me all the time, as my stash can attest.

The 1/32 Bell Huey would be my choice, as it would make an impressive display model.

Get used to it friend. A man likes to go out and kill something and drag it home. Its satisfying. Buying kits is about as fun as building them. Do like I do,  get you an assembly line going and tear into all of them. I'm just getting back into the hobby after 10 year hiatus, but when I dug out my junk I had about 6 kits going strong.

You could hold off a month and build that A-10 for the thunderbolt GB starting in October...just saying:)

I'd say work on the F-18 to hold you over until then!
