Now M.M.;
I will have to de-stash mine and finish it ! Mine is partially done with Rub - n - Buff metallic silver and some bronze. It is looking okay .I think I'll re-do it in foil chrome ! T.B.
The YB-49 was the jet version of X/YB-35, a younger brother as it came later. It's the uncle of the B-2. The father remains X/YB-35. ;-)

The B-2 should be called Jack Northrop's Revenge. But this plane is its grand father, you forgot about the YB-49.
Chasing the ultimate build.
GMorrison What is that on the wing? Looks like a big thumb print?

Just saw your post after my reply. I think that's too big to be a thumb print. It's possibly an oil strain, intentionally or not.
Thanks so much guys for your kind comments and compliments! I really appreciate them! Just wonder why nobody noticed that the markings were missing. It was because the decal sheet was smeared by yellow paper in the box, making it unusable.
For those who regret selling it or those who want to have one, I think it may still be available in some hobby shops. Italeri released one in the same scale in 2008 but now it's sold out on Japanese sites. Anyway on ebay I see both AMT's and Italeri's on sale, some at reasonable price (less than $30). "Art Instructor" told me that first he forgot to add weight to the nose and ended up having to disassemble the kit, add the weight and assemble it again. So keep this in mind if you build one.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Nice work. Always one of my favorites since I first saw it in the original War of the Worlds movie.
I also had this kit at one time, but it was missing a bunch of parts that I was never able to find or scratch build, so I dumped it. I do have the B-49 still in my stash.
Fantastic work Model Maniac!!!! Dont see them built very often thats for sure.
Beautiful job on an unusual plane. I actually have two of these kits in my stash. One is missing a windshield and I bought a second so I could make a clear resin casting. I was going to sell one of them, but a friend ask me to build one for him. I guess he had an uncle who worked for Northrop and had some connection to the design. Thanks for sharing the photos. I love the unusual designs and especially when done as well as you did on this one!
I love those oddball Northrop planes! I, too, used to have this kit but I botched it up and ended up pitching it. I blame only my poor modeling skills at the time, not the kit. I wish I had another one in my stash now.
Great work on the model. I know it wasn't an easy shake-n-bake one. Thanks for posting!

That's some nice work there MM. My compliments to Art Instructor.

Very cool! I love it. It's nice to see such a unusual aircraft thread. You did a fantastic job on this build and it definately shines!
