The Bell P-59 Airacomet was the first ever jet aircraft designed and built in the USA.
I have done a few Special Hobby kits, but this was the worst fitting one I have done so far. really bad around intakes and wing roots. So after a lot of filling and sanding and re-scribing we end up with this. Despite the trouble, I am happy with the final result and really like this aircraft, a great edition to my unusual subject display. It was quite a big aircraft in real life 38ft long and 45ft wingspan.I used Tamiya gloss black acrylic for the base before coating AK Xtreme metals polished aluminium, and then picking out random panels I used other shades of AK and Vallejo metal colors.I wanted this one nice and shiny like it was new, so as you can see, no weathering, perhaps not realistic, but sometimes I just want to see something shiny!
Good choice in not weathering it. It looks fantastic!

Looks great!
I have a real interest in the development of both the plane and engine. I have the kit, but it has not yet made it to my bench. Fascinating subject!
