SaltydogII

I'm gonna have popcorn ready this sat. FL vs TN, AUB vs LSU. Gonna be some snot bubbles and slobber knock in' going on.

I noticed you have been a member since 2003. I also joined in 03' but dropped out in 07' til now. My username was just Saltydog then but I couldn't remember my login stuff so I had to start a new membership. Anyway, not a whole lot of members left from that era I noticed.

Ah there still a few of us old guys

Sir, if you screwed up the intakes, it sure isn't very visible. Beautiful job, in my opinion!

I don't see many Phantoms built up in low vis schemes.

This is a really nice one.  Nice job !

Yes, I really wasn't planning on getting out of the hobby, but due to family expansion, I had to give up the spare bedroom with the addition of our second child in 07'. I packed up my stuff, but at the time, I wasn't planning on being down for 10 years. Then, I focused on finishing my degree at Troy and didn't have much spare time.

Anyway, I didn't mean to hi-jack your thread, you have a excellent looking phantom. Keep em' comin' friend. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, with social media, real life, and changing tastes in hobbies, there's not a lot from that time here, but I still see some from time to time, depending on the subject.

LOL. No doubt. Another few years off my life Saturday. Tennessee is looking decent. That will be a tough game in Knoxville.

I was wrong about the Safety S. Here's a link and it is a competitive award in the aviation squadrons. And the color is blue.

cvsusn

The E is known as the Battle E. The slash beneath it means the squadron took the Battle E in two consecutive competitive years. It's a readiness award given to the best squadron and is given by the common superior among the squadrons.

My guess is the S is for Safety. Can't tell from the photos if the outline of the S is green or gray. If it's green, it's Safety. As I recall, the Safety S is awarded to those squadrons who meet the highest safety standards during safety inspections. Be careful taking my word on the Safety S. I'm an old shipdriver and the aviators will do things differently.

awesome stuff! Thanks for the explanation.

Thanks, y'all! Nathan, I believe you're correct about the splitter plate markings, though I'm unsure of what awards they are.

Great looking build. Easily in my top five favorite military jets ever. Probably even in my top three if I really think about it.

Great looking Phantom Mississippi. One can never have enough of them. I'm almost done with both of my monograms.

Beautiful looking TPS Phantom! The Sierra is my phavorite Naval/marine variant. What does the E/S on the intake stand for? Isnt it excellence in performance or something for the squadron?
