Anigrand or Otaki 1/144 C-5 Galaxy
Posted by Keyda81 on Thursday, September 22, 2016 7:28 PM

Ten days ago I won an auction for a Otaki C-5 on eBay.  I was thrilled to have won without breaking the bank entirely.  Well here I sit 10 days later with no model, no tracking number, and it's not even marked as shipped.  Opened a claim 2 days ago, and still no response from the seller.  I'm pretty sure at this point I'm going to be refunded and not get the model.  Another Otaki has popped up, a bit pricer, there is also an Anigrand kit.  Question is which is the better kit?  They are roughly the same price, I'll pay a bit more to get the better kit.

They are very different, plastic versus resin. If you have built some simpler resin kits I would build the Anigrand kit. I think they are good and fun, a welcome change from styrene.

Have you contacted the seller?

I tried to contact them 2 days ago, and still haven't gotten a response.  I would rather have the kit than the money back.  It's one of my daughter's favorite planes.

I'm going to disagree with Bill and suggest pursuing the Otaki/Revell kit.  Anigrand can be very hit and miss for accuracy and quality.

Well look who walked in to the saloon.

Greetings, pardner.

Hey, I'm living in Carmel now, semi retired.

Yes John is correct. The styrene kit is a known quantity, a good kit. Something that WOULD be worth a foray into resin would be a C-141. Or, hey a C-124.

Thanks for the replies.  I'll toss a bid in on the Otaki, and if I miss out on that I'll just grab the Anigrand.  I thought I read somewhere about the Anigrand kits being hit or miss, I just couldn't find where I read it to confirm.

Go figure, after two weeks the guy finally posts a tracking number.  His excuse was he was waiting on boxes.  Confused  Well hopefully it actually shows up.

I have an idea of how big it is.  I already did a C17 in the same scale, and I seen them both at the airshow last year.  It's a gigantic beast.  I'm thinking it's roughly the size of my 1/72 C-130.

Well if I do my math right. It should have about 21" wingspan and 18.5" long
