Just Finished
Posted by David from PA on Saturday, September 24, 2016 10:24 AM

After a few weeks of stops, starts, wife's operation etc. I have finally finished my F4F-3. Except for the addition of spark plug wires it's an OOB build. Weathering and wear was done with pastels and overcoated with Testor's Dullcote. Topcoat is Humbrol enamel 157, insignia done with Model Master insignia red, white and blue. Numbers done with MM Gunmetal.

Nice build David! I like the subtle weathering too.

Keep up the good work.

Very nicely done!  I too like the subtle weathering.  Great detail work as well!

Toshi,

It's the 1/32 scale Trumpeter F4F-3 (Late) and thank you for the comments.

Beautifully done OOB F-4.  Your paint work is second to none.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the compliments. The kit supplied decals for this aircraft were, in my opinion, too thick. And, since they tried to duplicate an overpaint of a previously applied insignia, too bright (in other words a bunch of "@#$$"). I have also had difficulty fading out decals so, since in my former life I painted planes for the navy for about 15 years, I decided to try my hand at painting insignia and other markings. Glad you guys think that it was worth the effort. Again, thanks.

Really nice job on the painting (I'm impressed!) and the whole package is great. Keep up the good work.

Maybe you can see what I mean about the kit supplied decals (I cut a couple to size them to the model)
