Great find there! Interesting to find out the history on the aircraft, amazing how much they did move around and change hands over the years.

mississippivolIsn't it funny how a one season show had that much impact?
Actually there was a second season. But no third. I loved it then. Now when I watch 'em... I guess our tastes change after we grow up.
Great article. I particularly like the parts about reuniting one old Marine Avaitor with his Korean War mount for one last flight together, and the fact that a couple of the other birds were combat vets, from pretty much all of the Corsair's wars:WWII, Korea, Indochina, Algeria, Suez, Honduras... quite impressive for that little as hoc squadron.
Now if HBO could do a miniseries based upon Boyington's autobiography for the proper treatment of the story...
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Cool stuff, thanks for sharing. Loved that show and yes, the Corsair is my favorite aircraft.

That is a great story. Thanks. I remember watching that show and thinking what a great looking aiplane the Corsair was.

Thanks for sharing. I'm going to forward this to my dad. The Corsair is his favorite plane from WWII. My grandpa might get a kick out of it too. He worked on Corsairs in Korea.
I came across this interesting story about the history of the Corsairs (and it's pilots) used on the TV series "Baa Baa Black Sheep". I figure the members here would enjoy it since many of us grew up watching this program:
