So I'll stick with the same paint scheme from the '302nd. Flying Group.  Thanks for the visit!

Toshi, the gun in the side is a cannon, set up that way so the fighter could fly below the B-29's and fire up at them from below.  The B-29's in the early missions were flying higher than the Japanese fighters could easily climb so any advantage to be taken was necessary.  Later the B-29's bombed at night from lower levels because accuracy was not good enough from the high altitudes.

Looking great, Toshi! Makes sense sticking with the paint to get it done before the move. I've lost whole model kits in moves. Can't imagine it'd be any better with tiny parts of a small kit. Wasn't sure if there were a lot of paint/camo schemes like in the European theatre. Most of my research about the air war of WWII (of which there has been A LOT) has been about the ETO. My grandpa's time on a B-17 crew piqued my interest young, and there's just soooo much there I never switched gears to the Pacific.

Now that you mention it, I've got my eye on a really cool Japanese fighter. It's a Nishikisusien Rufe in 1/48 by Tamiya. It'll be my first Japanese plane since a Zero I built when I was like 8 years old. Awesome story behind the design. That or a V-1 to sit alongside my tempest will be my next purchase...or both. You know how it is. Lol.

I have only made four IJN aircraft.  Tamiya 1/32 Zero, Zoukei Mura 1/48 Kyushu Shinden, and the most recent Hasegawa 1/72 Raiden Combo.

Through the year and a half WannabeFarmboy, I've only built this amount of IJN aircraft.  A few Luftwaffe and the rest were Amaerican WWII aircraft.  I hope you enjoy the photos!

I did this with the Testors enamel paint marker.  It came out really nice.

I was the same way, Toshi. I built all US aircraft with the exception of an Me-262, a Zero, and the USS North Carolina all built when I was a kid. The Tempest I'm building now is my first British plane and the Ju-88 I have on deck is my first luftwaffe plane since that 262. 

Here I have the clear coat on.  Now the application of the decals.

Here is the completed Raiden.  This is my first Hasegawa and my first combo kit.  I thought that was very cool for Hasegawa to do that.  This is one of the reasons I purchased this kit.  Thank you forum members for your support and visit!
