The other day we had a dramatic rescue at the Falls. Captain Kevin Caffery of the Erie County Sheriff's Dept. rescued this fella from the brink of the Horseshoe Falls with an ex-military Hughes OH-6A. See the full story here, including pics:

Anyone who has ever actually been to the Falls will know exactly how hairy this rescue was.

Oh happy day for that guy. That is some harry flying.Looks real windy there to.
I noticed from the photo that the pilot is flying from the right of the aircraft, like most
helis. On my flight in a 5ooE the pilot flew from the left. Also I have seen other 500's
at airports that fly from the left. How is that decided?

FITTER,
I am from Niagara County well Niagara Falls (hate to admit it LMAO). My brother -inlaw took part in that rescue. He is w/ the State Park Police.(As funny as it sounds, they have "more" state jurisdiction than any of our local Police teams)
Yeah I saw it on the news, BOY was he one lucky dog. It would be nice to do our Sheriff's helo.
