Thanks again friends.

I used Tamiya dark green, olive green for main camo; And mixed flat earth, yellow & white to make the tan like color.  I used blue tac to make small worms to aibrush the camo.

That is really sweet looking, cnq!

Love the camo!

My advice for the silvering decals is a "try at your own risk" solution, but it does work. You can try using Testors liquid cement.

The problem is that it will dissolve the carrier film, so you really want to take it slow and easy. One quick swipe and let it sit for 10-20 minutes.

Repeat as needed.

If you get too agressive the LC can smear or distort the decals.

Trust me on that. I've been using this trick for a long time. Decal repair becomes part of the process when you get impatient. But not all decals react the same and Academy decals are pretty resilient.

You should be safe if you decide to give it a try.

Oops, sorry Patrick, this is cnq's post, I'm building the 1/48 version! (Slowly I must say)

A really fine job, Max, the camo finish is first rate in any scale, even more so in 1:72. A few questions, please. Did you freehand the camo, what was the paint and the clear coat?

Thanks, great modeling.

By the way, the real one in your picture was at Oshkosh in 2009. I walked up to it and inspected and photographed the aircraft. I guess that's the reason I bought the model. Not only did it look good but it did some impressive fly-bys.

Hey thanks friends.

Hoda thanks for the tip. I'll try that next time I have the same issue.

The 1/48 Trumpeter kit looks very nice especially with the South Vietnamese decals. I'm tempted to get it.

Your model looks great. Also a nice reference picture as I am building the 1/48 version. I just finished saving some silvery decals with advice from the Forum Gang. I poked several perforations in the decal with an Exacto knife and kept applying Future to it. The ones that it didn't fix at least looked better. Might be worth a try!

Anyway, good work, I like it!

That is a real nice Dragonfly that you have there with a good looking base as well.  Love the SEA camouflage scheme.  The weapons load-out make that bird a bit more than an annoying insect I would guess.

This one is from Academy in 1/72.

The decals are very old and did not want to stay down. I have some issue with decals going silver....but since I paid only $5 for it I can't complaint much Wink

The plane was in service in "Bien Hoa" city during the Vietnam conflict.
