Very nicely done.  I'd say, loaded for bear, but maybe more appropriate to say Loaded for Eagle?  Stick out tongue  I'd be tempeted to drop the tanks as well, since they will only get worse as the wings sweep back.  great job on the paint and love the decals.

Very cool, nice build!  I would be tempted to just jettison those wing tanks.

Its a kit design problem. The MIG-23 and MIG-27 have two wing stations the inner on each side swirves with the wings as they swing, while the outer on each wing are fixed. The outer tanks have to be jettisoned in order to sweep the wings back, and I haven't seen many pictures of them used. The MIG-23BN is a MIG-27 with a simplified avionics package.

Chasing the ultimate build.

Way too much drag with them spread like that, Grant.  Sometimes stores can be canted a little for local airflow but only a minor amount.

But it's still a great looking model.

This is where the kit pylon holes lined up, I'm not sure if they are correct, being a swing wing aircraft, would the wing pylons swivel with wing angle? I looked up Mig-23's, some are like mine and some are straight, most don't have any wing stores, perhaps to avoid this conundrum

Hello Grant!

Another beautiful build, congratualtions! One thing bothers me, though - those underwing drop tanks, how come they angle outwards? Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Akan paints are fine, a little thick but as long as you thin them, there is no problem.

You did a great job on the build and camoflauge scheme.  Decals look fantastic!

I like that. How do you like the Akan paints?

I enjoyed this kit, but a few small things bother me with Trumpeter. 6 markings options are included with the kit, but not one tells you the country, unit markings etc.

The option I chose with the Falcon head shows 2 side views and underside view, but no top view!? So I had to guess the upper camo. And the weapons layout is a bit vague and I ended up taking a guess with how the bomb racks were attached as they did not fit without using a pylon.

The decals were awful as well (Trumpeter and Hobby Boss are usually good), They kept folding up on themselves and tear easy.

I do like the end result though, the Mig-23 is a beast, and maybe I like it because it reminds me a bit of an F-111.

I used Akan and Gunze for the camo, other paints used Tamiya, Gunze metalizer and Vallejo metal color.
Flory dark dirt wash and AK satin varnish finish it off.
