1/48 Osan 36FS F-16CG & F-16DG -- Slow WIP --
Posted by PKorson2 on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 1:56 PM

Hello,

I got these two models a while back but haven't started them yet. I'm a slow builder (still haven't finished a revell F-15E I got last Christmas) so I figure that if I post a WIP, I'll actually get them finished. I plan on building the Hasegawa first with an Avionix cockpit that's on its way and the Kinetic with some of the PE on its box. As for markings, I will use the Hasegawa decals for 89-2033 or 89-2020 and for the Kinetic I will use custom decals for either 89-779 or 89-780.

Not sure when I'll get them finished but I know I won't start until the Avionix cockpit arrives. I also ordered some "Blue Stuff", an instant rubber mold that I will use to cast small copies of things like wheel well details from the Kinetic to add to the Hasegawa.

Updates will be few and far between. Wish me luckSmile

Thanks guys.

Awesome! Good luck with the Kenetic kit.

Yeah this is going to be a tough one!

Yesterday I started dry fitting parts. Still waiting for the AM. It was estimated to ship in two days but this is now the seventh day!

I noted a couple differences with the kinetic kit from what others have experienced:

1.) The plastic is all one color. 2.) There is only one raised ejector pin stub. 3.) There are only two weapon sprues whereas there used to be four and no Mk. 82s (bummber because I was going to use those). 4.) The decals are corrected. And 5.) The fit is better because some joins have been cleaned.

Many problems still persist though like the ejection seats that look like they were scaled to dwarves, the front intake assembly not fitting, and the huge sprue attachments that I had to use meat scissors to clip.

(Left to right: Hasegawa F-16, Revell F-15E, Academy F-15E, Kinetic F-16)

I also incorrectly stated that the two Osan F-16DGs had serial numbers started with 89 when they actually start with 90. I already designed the decals on my iPad so I'm going to have to redo them now.
