Here's the picture. I've adjusted the saturation, exposure, sharpness... to clean it up. it's less grainy than the original. The wings are lighter than the red on the tail, but that very well may be lighting and/or reflextion... Again, thanks for ANY help... Raymond

Need help on Albatross D.5 4963/17

I'm finally back to building again and have wrapped up the cockpit of Manfred von Richthofen's Albatross D.5 number 4963/17. Of course, my wife wanted the Manfred mounted in his stead, as this will be placed in flight over a "no man's land" diorama.

In researching the color scheme for this particular bird, there does not seem to be a clear direction for the wings. I've seen the purple outer thirds and green inner third canvas. I've seen the mottled camo patterned canvas. I've seen both with the overspray of red, which would have been done anyway. And I have read that only the upper wing was overspayed... or painted... red and the lower wing was left in canvas.

I saw where one guy suggested that the book Richthofen wrote suggested both wings were red, but the picture from the book showed the plane with the camo... The one actual picture I can find really doesn't show the outline of the camo pattern, but being that it's a black and white photo and the angle on the wing was bad you can't tell...

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm more of a WWII guy. In fact this is the first WWI build I've done. That said, I'm a stickler for trying to be acurate so I want to get this right if I can... Help!!! I have heard that my local library used to have his book, so I will make a trip there on Monday...

BTW, I've got pictures of the cockpit build. I'll do a WIP soon... Raymond
