I am working on accurate minuture SBD Dougles in 1/48 scale. The instructions call for aluminum cockpit. However all of the photos I have seen are the usual Zinc Chrom. I went to get a jar of new ZC. However when I looked into the Vallejo air paints there was a color called US Interrior Yellow. So my question is ..Which color is the interrior Zinc Chrom, or the Vallejo us interior Yellow? and no the colors are not the same. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers my question.
Which version of the SBD is it? The early ones had aluminum interiors, the later variants had interior green (not zc).
Jerry, there used to be a thread here on the site where this discussion was brought up and someone posted a very useful link to the differences in ZC, you can find it in everything from yellow to green and even pink. Hopefully someone here can find the old thread or knows of the link I am talking about. I, myself, am not as good at finding old links and attaching them. If I do find it, I'll try to add it.
Try this:

On the Bench: Lots of unfinished projects!
chrysler_jerryI am building a later model. My understanding that the Army Air Corp got them after Midway.
Then you are building an A-24 not an SBD. The A-24 had most of the characterics of the SBD-3, the A-24A of the SBD-4, and the A-24B of the SBD-5. They would all have interior green cockpits, and the gear bays would be the color of the underside (neutral gray).

to thank everyone for your reply. I find this conversation fasinating. I guess it all depends on the type of aircraft, the time period, as to what variant was used. Thanks again. I will use all the input to make my desicion.
