You could sand down the glue, but you would still have to try to rescribe the panel lines into the super hard glue, which would probably be much harder than sanding them down.
I live in Japan and know a hobby shop, Monomark, that sells almost every type of model kit imaginable. I have a 1/48 Hasegawa VX-4 Vandy F-4J that I bought there for 3800 yen, which is about $35. If you want, I could go to Monomark and try to find a full replacement kit for you and mail it to you. Or you could write directly to Hasegawa for the parts. By the way, the kit I have has raised panel lines. Did you sand them down and try to scribe new ones? Sounds like too much work to me
