Academy 1/48 F4-B Phantom VF-111 Sundowners

I just wrapped this kit up the other day. It is a splendid kit that has fantastic detail and fit. It was a no putty kit also. This kit has A LOT of pieces and A LOT of decals and will take some time to complete. There are so many parts that rapid fire assembly is simply not going to happen. This is one of the finest kits I've had my hands on and is well worth the investment in time it takes to complete. I will be getting their other kit, the -C and do a Vietnam era camo bird later as well.

I have plenty of flaws in my finish work, but I am very happy with the outcome and there is nothing about them that bothers me enough to really care about. Sure, I could have done better, but hey, it's done and I'm happy with it.

Thanks for looking,

BK

From my view I see no flaws.  If you're happy that's all that matters.  The way I see my own builds is its going on a shelf to be seen by me and a few friends who more then likely have no idea if there is a mistake.

Hello!

It's lookin' good, a real beauty! I know you know your model and it's flaws, but every model has them, so it's no reason to worry! Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

BK - A solid "10" and thanks for the post and photos. I doubt that anyone but you could point out a flaw, as you said you're happy with it, I'm happy I got to see it, so there!!!

Looks real nice to me.

The lighting seems very harsh to me, a diffuser in front of the lamp(s) or strobe should fix that.  Just some light white cloth or thin paper.

That is so me!  No one that comes into my house is going to know the difference, lol.

That is one beautiful Phantom!

Wow.  She's a beauty!  Very nice.  Love the subtle weathering and panel line accenting.

That looks flipping fantastic...Just curious what you don't like about it.  I'm a new modeler so just interested.

It's not terribly visable in the photos, but there are chips and blems in the paint that were completely avoidable. The fact that I could have had a better outcome is what bothers me more than how it looks. It does look pretty good to my eyes, but the blems are very noticable to me cuz I know they are there. I am happy with the completed kit, but I know I could have done better. That is what bothers me the most.

Looks great!  I really like the Sundowners scheme.  My unit in Vietnam had the Sharks teeth painted on our Charlie model Huey's.  174th AHC.
