Windex isn't doing its thing with my acrylics
Posted by seasick on Monday, March 6, 2017 9:05 PM

I recently painted a model with acrylic paint (MM) and didn't like how it came out. I wipped out the Windex (real windex) and the paint didn't wash off! I'm useing a cloth and windex and the paint isn't budging. What's wrong?

If by real Windex you mean an old bottle, I don't know.  I do know that there are two formulas for Windex now, and you need the industrial type to get the good stuff, not the household.  Less ammonia in the new stuff for household use.

90% or better IPA, or DoT3 brake fluid will remove the paint without damaging the plastic.

Gotta soak the model in the windex, not just wipe. I usually soak it overnight. Then scrub with an old toothbrush.

I soak in Simple Green overnight, use a toothbrush the next day and it usually comes right off.

lol I suppose it depends on how much of a rush you're in.

DoT3 takes minutes and IPA works in seconds. LOL
