Nice detail shot, Max. I can't help but notice how light the blue is in the roundel and fin flash.

Being an aircraft nut I've been to great lengths to see originals. In Oshkosh in 2009 a Lancaster arrived from a collection in Canada. You could touch it, go through it, stand there with your mouth open and admire it. Awsome. After that I searched for the model. Wow, the 1/48 is just too big. I saw a 1/72 Revell/Germany at a show a few years ago and it actually won 1/72 Bomber class. Maybe someday, I'm way behind. What a historical aircraft, it would look good in the museum! Again John, really good job on a true historical classic! I do like this shot, bold and simple.
Max
PS--has anyone built the Revell/Germany 1/72 Lancaster?
Thank you, Chris, John, Britt, and 7474!
Thanks, Max. Like T John said, the span is 25 1/2 inches, the length is 17 1/2. It sits next to a Revell B-17F in the display case and what you notice first is that the B-17 looks like a low rider next to it. The Brits must have liked tall landing gear.
Hodakamax What is the span on that one? Max
What is the span on that one?
Very cool John! I hope to add one to my collection some day.
Thanks for sharing it here. =]

Beautiful Lanc. Nothing more to say.
Really nice work John. The canopy is pristine ! The quality of the work is super - and your photography is amazing.
Chris
Thanks, everyone!
That's one good-looking Lancaster, John.
Hey John, I ran out of adjectives on your work long ago. Let's try Super job! The Lancaster looks great! What is the span on that one?
Really nice lanc there John.
I was a bit confused as to what a Lanc would be doing in an FAA GB so had to look it up. Learnt somthing new there.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

You embarrass me Mike, but thanks for the compliment.
The only 1/48 Lancaster is the Tamiya kit, but the recent issues have been upgraded so if you do get one, get a newer kit. Check out Scalemates for the details. There are several versions of the kit, normal, Dambusters, and Grand Slam.

In spite of the problems you say you encountered, you've built a mighty fine looking aircraft!
Just curious - what's the best 1/48 Lancaster as far as you're concerned? I like the airplane but doubt I'll ever build it since I have a small condo with little room to display either the aircraft or ships that I build.
P.S. Wow! John I just looked at your models website and you have some very, very nice builds there! You're quite a talented modeler.

Here's a few pictures of a Tamiya Lancaster I finished today in the long running FAA GB here. More pictures and the build log are in that GB, and also on my web site if you are interested. The kit dates from the 70's and the particular one I built probably was an early pressing, I've had it in the stash for a long time. I added Belcher Bits nacelles and wheels, and the Eduard PE set which were both great additions to the kit. It does not build like a modern Tamiya kit, and it stretched my skills to get to the point where it is now. Just the size of it makes some things a struggle, although it was possible to delay installing the wings until the very last. The black plastic has become an unfavorite for me, it can really cause eyestrain. I feel good that I have it built, it has been intimidating me for a long time!
