Academy 1/48 F-4C Phantom W.I.P. The Long Road Begins

It's time to replace the decades old brush painted Revell F-4 from yesteryear. I've been saving this for a while and practicing for this endevour for weeks on a similiarly painted A-37. I'd been out of the model business a couple of years doing a 1/1 motorcycle restoration and needed a refresher course.

Yikes! What have I gotten myself into? I've never seen that many aircraft parts come out of a box! A ship maybe but not a 1/48 aircraft. Well I always like a modeling challenge and this appears to be one.

This will be even more interesting having seen and photographed the very craft I'm building while visiting the USAF Museum in Dayton Ohio.

Model season for me is the dead of Winter and part of the hell of the Kansas Summer. This will take a while is what I'm saying but I do bits and pieces during bad weather. Be patient with me, at least I've opened the box! Hmm, work to do.

Looking forward to this, though I don't see anything that needs to be replaced that's a fine looking plane you already have. All those parts will certainly keep you busy, but half the fun is in the journey right?!

Thanks Josiah for the compliment on the old Phantom. A closer look reveals giant seams and gaps. Mom wiped it out once carrying a large ladder through my room. I was always proud of the brush paint job, not bad at the time or at least it seemed so. The kit was borderline crude when new, at least for fit or maybe it was just the times. It did stick with me for half a century, longevity was good. I'll put it somewhere, it was always with me. Same aircraft, different presentation, it's just time.
