It takes as long as it takes. If you have long periods with nothing to post, it won't really matter, people will just look in as you post. I have a WiP thread going that i am expecting to last 18 months.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Hi Mike,

That thought would never enter my head.

If someone started a WIP 10 years ago - and them decided to take it up again - or post a final completion pic 10 years later - I would just think    "Cool !  -  They finished !"

If anybody thinks   "Whoa - that took to long - he shouldn't have done that"   then that's their problem.   I think the great majority of us would still love to see your work.

I just like to see people's ideas and craftsmanship come to fruition - who cares how long it takes.

Not to me.  Depends on the builder's ability, time available, how much a/m or scratch stuff is going on with it.  Also how much detail is going into the build.  Some projects can stretch out for years if complex.

If you are going full out on detail, unless you are spending 5-6 hours a day on it,  6 months would be a fairly fast build in my book.

I think everyone's building habits and time with life tossed in is gonna be very different. Some folks can crank them out while others can only manage to get one done a year. The time is yours to choose. If you think you're rushing then take more time. If you think you're too slow then devote more time if life permits. There is no right or wrong answer.

Question: How long is too long a time for a WIP?

My Avenger "Test Mule" is nearing completion and I'm determined to do another TBM-3 with more patience and, hopefully, better results from lessons learned. The question I have concerns how long a time period is reasonable for a WIP on this aircraft? If I actually do start a WIP it may be over 6 months in the making. Is that too long?
