Right... just over places like Libya and Syria where there is a remote possibility of air to air action. Otherwise why add the weight and drag?

Thanks Stik, and you are 100% correct. Now days it's rare to see any air to air ordenance loaded.

Thanks all, nope you are right there is no missile on Port wing. I used pics I had on my laptop. For the OIF there is really no air threat. So it is common for them to have either one air to air missile loaded. Alot of times they have none. They concentrate primarily on air to ground since that is the predominant threat in Thier operating area.

 

After OIF 1 there was ZERO air to air threat... we owned the place
