Academey Bf-109D

I finished this last weekend. It is the 1/48 Academey Bf-109D, out of the box.

I watched the way a gentleman was painting an F-4 with a gray finish on You Tube. I attempted some of his techniques with this one.

Thanks for looking!

Nice work on your Condor Legion 109. Not knowing enough about those aircraft I can't honestly say if your weathering is overdone or underdone... Wink

Very nice work on an iconic A/C, not many pre-Emil kits to choose from.  How was the fit with the Academy?  I like your choice of finish, since there is so little documented evidence of Spanish 109's finish, modelers have done either a gray-ish or metalic-ish finish...I chose the latter due to Brett Green's choice.  Perhaps the A/B/C/D variant progression has something to do with it. I've attached the CA 109-A.  Again, nice work!

Thank you all for the kind words. The Academy kit is nice. The fit is pretty good.

I used the color call outs in the instructions. RLM 63/02 for the upper surfaces. It lists both. I used RLM 63 for the top and RLM 65 on the bottom.

All Model Masters enamel. I really like the natural aluminum finish. There is a new kit from AMG of the -109C. Full video build on You Tube.

Cheers

I like it!  Sadly, I don't think those sweet new AMG kits of the A, B, C, & D models will be available stateside for a while.  I'd love to get a couple for the stash.
