Martin B-26 Marauder 1/48
Posted by Lananda on Friday, April 14, 2017 2:48 AM

Hy to all,
this is my first post after my introduction.
The subject is the result of circa two years of intermittent work on the old Monogram kit that has been rescribed, riveted and detailed in the visible areas.
The upgrade was made with the help of Eduard Big-Ed set, Quickboost resin engines & guns,  True Detail wheels and a lot of scratch building.
I think photos talk better than my poor english...
nose

the bomb bay was completely reworked

the top turret revised

and for now i think is enough....

Yes You're off to a great start. I did something similar a few summers ago with one of these kits. And you're getting the interior colors correct! No interior green was used on Marauders.

Exactly. I used every image of Flak Bait that I could find online as reference. She was stored in 1945 condition, not restored. A perfect time capsule for us 75 years later.

Flak Bait is getting put back together by the NASM staff as we speak, so it is a good time to get photos of all the nooks and crannies.  It is just getting cleaned up, not "restored" as in the case of the MAPS B-26-0 which they slathered with interior green when they were delivered in NMF.

if i'm not wrong some areas of Flak Bait interiors still wear a protective transparent blue film over the bare alluminium.

Hope to see it soon cleaned up!

Thanks to all,

the rapidity is due to the fact that the model was completed 4 months ago and the shots were taken during the buildingBig Smile.

All that hard work that you put into this model really paid off. You created a beautiful B-26 and the diorama sets it off nicely.

Beautiful work indeed! And an excellent setting for it as well.

Even if some Chinese model company does come out with a Marauder, it will likely cost two to three times as much and have multiple shape & accuracy issues. That is usually the case.

Absolutely amazing detail.  Your completed model and diorama is spectacular.  I built this kit in 1981 and only added a few details in the aft "waist" area consiting of the ammo feed and boxes and a heater/defroster hose in the nose compartment.  I was mainly wanting to have a diorama with the engines running up and landing lights on.  I did succeed in getting a few "realistic" pics looking like a dawn run up prior to a mission.

Keep up the fantastic work!

@Brindos: i started on janauary 2015 and the model was completed about on october 2016. The truck and the base took the rest of time.

I have to say WOW too!!! Beautiful model of my favorite twin-engine bomber.

Hope you don't mind but if I ever get around to building my kit I'd like to use some of your interior shots for reference. I probably won't super-detail the interior like you did but I'd like some idea on how to paint stuff.
