Have I made a mistake ?
Posted by lobos222 on Wednesday, March 24, 2004 2:30 PM
Not long ago, I posted, looking for a 1/48 scale A-6E Intruder. Well, I found one on line with a company in the UK, called Antics (www.anticsonline.co.uk) . I ordered the plane Feb. 2nd, 2004, my card has been charged and here it is March 24th, 2004 and no plane.

I have inquired to Phil (enquiries@antics.ltd.uk) at antics on several occasions about the delivery of my order and his response has been 1. There was a problem with your card. 2. There is an additional shipping charge of $17.00 to ship to the U.S. from the UK. and 3. Your order was mailed March 3rd, 2004.

I know the postal service is slow but have they started using carrier pidgeons for deliveries?

Has anyone else had this experience from this company ?Disapprove [V]

They should have provided you with a tracking number of some sort. You may also wish to contact the USPS and see wht theur take is on getting a package from the UK to the US as far as timetables and methods of shipping.

My wife had something similar happen with Amazon-UK. For some reason, there is a hold-up in customs.

Get the trackinng #. if you can

I must agree with this. Get the TRACKING NUMBER if you can I am having the same problem with an item that i won off of e-bay and the seller is saying that they have not gotten the money when I sent it Express Mail with a tracking number. That way you can see how it is doing on the trip over. and how long it sits in one place.

It's expensive to ship things internationally. Tracking is not always available, or may add a lot to the cost. Unless something is really hard to find, I try to avoid ordering things from outside of the US (though sometimes I can't resist). The problem with international shipping is, it's variable. Sometimes stuff comes quick and other times it gets hung up. I made two orders with hlj.com (in Japan) at about the same time, one came a month after they shipped it, the other a week after they shipped it. So, I would recommend being patient for a while, it may turn up any time.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions.....I'll contact Phil and see if he has a tracking number although he has never mentioned one. I was more wondering about the credibility of the dealer......Happy modeling. LOBOS

Hi
I haven't ordered from this company, but I've had a similar experience. Actually, I'm still experiencing it :)
I ordered from Allanger, oh must be about a month right now, and it's been a while since they took my money (figures that wouldn't have taken them long) but still no kit.
Recently, I ordered from Squadron, and right away there is a problem. I got a msg from them, replied back, and am now hoping to hear back from them very soon.
Insofar as my experience goes, get a tracking number. Or just stop ordering from the net. I've found it to be nothing more than a headache for me thus far.
Hope you get your kit, and I get mine :)

The only thing that I can add here is that, I run the Shipping/Receiving Dept at my work and I know that it sometimes takes a while before items are received from overseas.

First off, did you pay for International priority or surface? What was the original price to ship? If it was shipped via surface, it may take as long as a month+ to get your order. When shipping priority, it usually takes 7-10 days to receive (at a much larger cost (even as much as $45.00)

Also, I deal with an overseas seller at eBay for a lot of my kits. If I'm not in a big rush to get them here, I have him send them surface. It usually takes 6 weeks to get here. (and that is using the postal service)

In the last year and a half, the us postal service has lost about 8-10 packages sent to me. Those with tracking were either lost in deleware or in one case, went to deleware and was subsequently returned to the sender. I used to work for the USPS and at times had to sort 4 month old first class mail. UPS has damages too many of my packages for me to like them. I now tend to order from squadron, I always get my stuff and now that they use FedEx, I get my stuff before i retire.

I have had a look at their website,,and, it says delivery can take up to 8 weeks [ surface ].

Going the other way, I buy kits and books off of ebay from the US and book took 14 weeks to arrive by surface mail !!. so , dont worry too much, yet.

As you paid by Credit card, if you do not get any satisfaction from the seller, take it up with them.

I hope it does turn up, and dont let it put you off buying oversaes.

lobos, I understand your frustration. And all the comments about a tracking number are really good, it's the only way to know for sure what is going on. But even then it's not for sure. This is what I mean - I work for a German car company here in the USA, and we get things shipped from Germany all the time. For example I ordered something tuesday, and just got it this morning! But, once I had ordered something the very same way and CUSTOMS got ahold of it, and it sat for about a week there. I think that customs is most likley your problem. Remember, it's run by the government, and the people working there are government employees - and we all know what that means.

I hope it comes thru for you soon! By the way, you may have recourse through your credit card. If you never get it, call your card, they may refund you the money.

you guys should try being in the military and stationed overseas.... the package goes to NY first to a where it enters the military postal system (fed ex and UPS wont deliver) from there its up to the military to deliver your package to a community mail room where your stationed. Getting your mail to you is not a top priority to the military :(
