Alessandro, I was thinking that the pictures you posted were from that one that was detailed in FSM, as I really enjoyed reviewing that article.  It's interesting to know the one in the FSM article is 'less detailed'!  Nice work.

My Dad was originally slated to fly those in Viet Nam, but managed to get reassigned to a B-57 group when he got there for O-2 training.  >Whew!<

Wow!  That is beautiful!  O-2s used to fly over my house from the Air Guard base near my house.  I'll admit I have one in the stash also, and I will keep this build in mind as an inspriation.  Thanks for sharing.

That looks great! Especially the interior work. I'm gonna save this for reference when I build the one in my stash.

I think almost everyone has a Skymaster or two in their stash Stik and I count myself as one who has a Skymaster in my stash.Big Smile

A couple of comments, first on your very fine rendition of the aircraft. Excellent work for sure. I have actually seen the very example at the Museum. Also just a memory, but while in the '60s, going to college in Wichita Kansas I also worked at a filling station very close to the Cessna plant and watched them coming and going during development and testing as they left the line for their first flights. Thanks for refreshing my memories of a unique aircraft!

Good job!

You took the basic "pig in a box" and did a fabulous job with her!!!!  Puts my OOB build to total shame.

Cessna O-2A “Oscar Deuce” – 1:48 (Testors/Italeri) - Gallery
Posted by Aerodata.it on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 7:55 AM

Hi all, this is my first model on FSM community, hope you like it!
In late ‘60s USAF introduced twin-powered Cessna O-2A to replace single engine Cessna O-1 (my next project).
Old Testors/Italeri kit was acceptable but almost basic. It needed a lot of improvements that they absorbed me for 6 months and 293 hours of real work.
Cockpit with avionics rack and rear junction box was fully self-made (... except for cloches).
Continental IO-360 engine was coming by 2 sets of edited Lycoming taken from old Esci Cessna 172 kits to set up a 6 pistons propeller.
Firewall bulkhead, front gear bay and plates were made by styrene. Rivets and panels were rescribed for the whole aircraft.
Pilot was freely inspired by actor Danny Glover who played the role of Capt. Clark ‘Bird Dog’ in BAT21 movie.
The real aircraft is now preserved at National Museum of USAF, Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio.

Cheers, Alessandro
