1/48 F9F-2 Panther

This is the first of 11 models for VFA-211. I have to get them done by mid June for their squadron space. I used the Trumpeter kit, which has it's issues, but still isn't all that bad. If I had more time, I would have grafted on the extra canopy that comes in the Kittyhawk Cougar kit, but this will have to do.

This Trumpeter kit of which you said has some issues turned out gorgeous in your hands.  I love the color, it really stands out.

That's a great-looking aircraft. Nicely photographed too.

Darren,

Your model looks great.

The Panther and Cougar are two of my favorite early jets.

Funny, I was just reading something the other day that called this something along the lines of "godawful kit"... Obviously that is an exaggeration. Very nice! Yes

Great looking Panther, Darren. Always enjoy seeing what you've got to share. I wish I could crank 'em like you do.

My favorite Navy jet from this period. I used to watch them fly over the boat yard in Brooklyn where my dad had his boat. The picture I'm attaching is from when I was around 12 years old - circa 1955. (Brings back pleasant memories).

Just a wonderful representation/gorgeous model of this aircraft.

What a great picture! I've found as I've gotten older that nostalgia hits harder and harder. Looking at old pictures and remembering the events gives a warm, happy feeling.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll post the other models as I get them done. Numbers 2 and 3 are just about done.

Darren, there is just one word to describe this outing and that is "shiny".  Really nice work on the finish, and it looks like you beat any fit issues into submission as well.  I look forward to seeing the rest of the collection.
