Been awhile since my last post here, anyway.. recently got an AB last December for my 19th birthday, haven't turned back since. Got this kit as well that same month and worked on it last April. Overall fit was excellent, the build was really, really easy and simple. The markings are from VC-10, USS Gambier Bay, October, 1944. This is the aircraft of Joseph McGraw. As far as I know, they took part during the Battle of The Leyte Gulf and were part of Taffy 3.

Paint was Vallejo's Dark Sea Blue and the metallic sections were sprayed with Vallejo Metal Color Alluminum, chipping was done with a silver colored pencil, the streaking from gunsmoke was from a chalk pastel which I dry-brushed and the wash was Tamiya's grey panel accent color.

Your painting in such a small scale is very well done.  What kit was this?  I am not familiar with it.

Wonderful!  If you had not included the coin in the picture, I would never have believed it was that small!  Great weathering.

Oh wow that's amazing! I'd be afraid to work on something that small- I'd sneeze and she'd fly off the workbench and never be seen again! Indifferent

I've heard a lot of good stuff about the Sweet kits and they have a pretty extensive line of kits, but they're just too small for me.

I checked them out and did not realize all they offered.  I wasn't sure what they really were judging from the cartoon box art, I thought they were charatature models.

That cartoon box art is hillarious! All the cats. It's quite interesting. The kits look great and you did a awesome job.

Nicely done.

If you want a new challenge, get an identical kit, but paint it in the two-tone Atlantic scheme.

With that scheme, in that scale, your airbrush skill will take on a steep learning curve.

Enjoy!
