Translated instructions?
Posted by tigerman on Saturday, May 13, 2017 1:43 PM

I recently bought a couple of Japanese planes from Otaki and Arii. Of course all the instructions, including paint is in Japanese. Is there any way I can an English version? This would greatly help in the painting. Thanks for any help.

AMT reissued many of those kits, you could look for those instructions.

I think the only Japanese aircraft from the Otaki/ARII series that AMT re issued was the A6M5 Zero.

They did the Spitfire MK VIII and the P-40E from ARII/Otaki as well I think.  I have the Spitfrire in the AMT boxing.

Thanks. I'm a little lazy. lol I suppose I could refer to my limited resources or the kits that have English instructions and kind of "guess" my way through.

Of the Arii/Otaki molds, the only Japanese aircraft AMT released was the Zero. They also released pretty much all of the Allied aircraft kits:Corsair, Mustang, Thunderbolt, Spitfire, Warhawk... I don't recall ever seeing them do the Hellcat. But all the rest of the Otaki/Arii Japanese kits besides the Zero: Tony, Oscar, Frank, Tojo, George, Jack- they did not cover.

I have an Okinawan daughter-in-law (they prefer not to be called "Japanese", as her father made sure I understood....). She can translate them for you, if you'd like. If interested, PM me.
