Revell 1/48 F/A-18F

Revell's 1/48 F/A-18F. About the only thing added are the new ECS exhaust stacks on the back. Since the kit has the early ones molded in. they are made by quick boost and are for the Hasegawa superbug. But with a small amount of work I got it to fit. The spare tanks and weapons are from the spares bin

That's awesome, Fixer! What year were those CAG markings used?

Thanks toshi and Bish,

It is black basing. The majority of the weathering is all done with oils. It's something I am learning as I go.

Its come out really well. I am still trying to get the hang on black baseing, i'm a bit to heavy handed when it comes to laying down paint.

Looks great. Too bad the F is so hard to find. Around here the E is plentiful

Beautiful.  Have been wanting to do a Hornet for quite awhile.  Used to work at McDD in St. Louis.  Built almost every kit that came out of F-4 and F-15, but left just as kits for -18 were coming out.

Holy smokes! All I can say is "WOW!" I've got that same kit rising to the top of my "to do" list but I think I'm going to do it in the marking of Pax Naval Air Station. I used to live close to it when I was growing up so I think I'll go that route. Now that I see how your build turned out, I dunno man, I'm now thinking of using those markings instead! Congrats on turning out an amazing looking kit! I hope mine turns out even remotely as good as yours. Eric

Thanks Echolmberg,

I think the Pax markings are pretty sharp. The only reason I went with this one is that the majority of the revell builds of this release I have seen are all done in the Pax markings. To be different I went with the swordsman markings instead and was pretty happy with the result.

To be honest with you, I think the only reason I haven't started on my F/A-18F is because I simply cannot decide which of the two markings to go with!  In reality, I think it might be one of those situations where, no matter which markings you choose, you just can't lose.
