Completed Revell 1/48 F-15C Eagle
Posted by Toshi on Monday, June 5, 2017 8:24 PM

Here's a kit Mrs. Toshi picked up on s whim.  She was impressed with how exciting the Eagles decals looked.  It seems somewhat difficult but I'll worry about that later.

Until then, let's take another WIP journey into this F-15C Eagle.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I'll enjoy sharing and building this kit.  I think I'm building this kit for Mrs. Toshi more than myself as she thinks it's a really cool plane with fancy decals!  LOL!

As long as you have a good supply of Set and Sol you should be golden. :D

If this builds up as nicely as the Strike Eagle you'll have fun building it.  I was really impressed with that kit.  I've looked at this one a few times, but never picked it.....yet, lol.

That Eagle has a Bird of Prey of Star Trek look to it. I will follow your build to see how it goes, and might just pick this one up for myself.

I too built the Strike Eagle and enjoyed it!  This seems to be an older mold, all raised lines just with new decals.  Thanks for stopping by!

Good to see you have another ready to go. I was worried that you finished your Mosquito. A day without Toshi is boring.

Looks like fun, and I'm glad you showed us the decal sheet. I was curious.

You have done some pretty impressive decal work in the past, so I am sure you will do a fantastic job. If I was looking at the decal sheet, I would have heart palpitations. LOL.

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Ya know, I've seen this kit in HL before and nearly picked it up, mostly cuz of those decals. I haven't pulled the trigger yet so I'll see how it goes for you, Toshi. I'll be watching.

Except for Toshi's skill, I wouldn't expect an easy build on that one, Keyda. That kit's been retooled in terms of the burner cans but the basic mold has been around since 1979.

You have raised panel lines and some gaps here and there. But it's not near as bad as your Tomcat (nice job by the way).

I considered buying it when I spotted it in HL but I'm not much into those gaudy paint jobs. Give me plain old gull grey over white or Europe 1 any day.

Thank you, I do like a challenge every so often.  I was thinking of adding to the collection just because it is something that looks rather different.  Breaks up all the grey, and olive drab a bit.Big Smile

Dry fitted the fueselage halves together and found them warped.  Instead of fighting the kit with clamps, tape, and rubber bands, I took a hair dryer to it and was able to decently square up everything.

Now the fueselauge looks like a F-15C Eagle then a twisted hot mess.  Still no putty is needed and all I've done was to sand the seams down.  Other than that, for a kit that made it's debut in 1979 when I turned thirteen, it has faired well for it's time!
