I just finished this little T-Bird because after seeing them perform and talking with the pilots, I was inspired . I'm going to present it to the pilot of #3 when I work at the Daytona Speedway Coke Zero 400 in July. I met all of them at the Daytona 500 Race and I must say that each one of these young men and woman renewed my faith in the future of this country. They are personable,professional, articulate and a credit to our military.
The build was OOB ( an old Hasegawa kit ) and the fit and engineering was VERY good. The fsg. went together clam shell syle with the invisible seams on the sides instead of the customary top and bottom seams. No filler was used except on the gear doors, which I opted to build closed ,so I could display it in flight over a photo of the Daytona Speedway taken by the Goodyear Blimp.
The stand was made from a window blind adjusting rod by heating it gently with a heat gun and inserting it into a hole drilled in the home made wooden base.
The original decals where aged badly so the only AM used was a set of Micro Scale decals and boy did they perform well.
Paint was Alclad primer,Tamiya XF-2 White, Alclad Aqua Gloss and MM Semi Gloss for a finish coat. Interior was done with all Tamiya flavors. The canopy had 2 coats of Future , 3 coats of Tamiya X-19 Smoke and another finish coat of Future. I hope you likey. Jay
